Wearing Our Values: Building Ethical Supply Chains
The apparel industry is powered by global supply chains — but how well do we really understand what happens between a cotton field in India and a store shelf in Canada? In this session, we’ll take a behind-the-scenes look at the apparel supply chain through the lens of human rights and sustainability. Drawing on my consulting work with Canadian organizations implementing Canada’s new Supply Chain Act (Bill S-211) and my lived experience working with manufacturers in India, I’ll unpack key risks and opportunities for apparel brands. We’ll also explore how grassroots action, like the work I do with Fashion Revolution Vancouver, plays a role in shifting industry norms and consumer mindsets.
About the Speaker: namrita lamba
I bring a unique blend of frontline industry insight and policy expertise to conversations on ethical apparel and supply chain transparency. Earlier in my career, I worked directly within the apparel supply chain in India, gaining firsthand knowledge of the systemic challenges faced by workers and manufacturers. Today, I’m a sustainability consultant at Reeve Consulting, where I support Canadian organizations in embedding human rights due diligence into their procurement and supply chain practices. I’ve delivered numerous workshops on this topic — most recently at the NISCL Annual Conference — helping businesses respond to Canada’s new Supply Chain Act (Bill S-211). Outside of consulting, I serve as the City Lead for Fashion Revolution Vancouver, where I organize public events, workshops, and campaigns that empower citizens to demand more just and sustainable apparel.
